Eastern METALS
Copper Humidity Trays provide proper climate control for Orchids and proper
watering for African Violets and Bonsai Trees! They offer the added measure of complimenting the
beauty of your plants with virgin copper. These trays can be polished,
lacquered or left to take on the natural, attractive patina of aged copper.
Construction consists
of heavy gauge pure copper, fully hemmed upper edges, clean welded joints
(no lead, not soldered), and no surface coating. Copper is the
preferred material for humidity trays by horticultural experts worldwide and
has been used for this purpose for decades.
Eastern METALS' trays are strong,
resisting twisting when lifted and built to last a lifetime.

Many houseplants prefer a
relative humidity of 40 to 50 percent. Unfortunately, the humidity level in
many homes during the winter months may be only 10 to 20 percent. Place
houseplants on trays filled with pea gravel or pebbles. Add water to the
trays, but keep the bottoms of the pots above the water line. The
evaporation of water from the trays increases the relative humidity.

Most
plants used as indoor plants come from the tropical and subtropical
regions. Many tropical areas are warm and humid--very different from homes,
shopping malls, museums and offices where tropical plants are typically
grown today. Some plants that are not traditionally thought of as indoor
plants will thrive indoors with proper care. To elevate the humidity around
indoor plants, set groups of plants on trays filled with pebbles with water
to evaporate in them.

Atmospheric
humidity is expressed as a percentage of the moisture saturation of air. Two
ways to provide increased humidity are by attaching a humidifier to the
heating or ventilating system in the home or placing gravel trays (in which
an even moisture level is maintained) under the flower pots or containers.
This will increase the relative humidity in the vicinity of the containers.
As the moisture around the pebbles evaporates, the relative humidity is
raised.
